Eligible personnel from Russia, Brazil, the United Kingdom, the United States, Canada, and 54 other countries, transiting through China to a third country (region), can enter China visa-free from any of the 60 open ports in 24 provinces (regions, municipalities) and stay and activities within the specified area for no more than 240 hours.
The transit visa-free policy, which has been fully relaxed and optimized, includes 21 newly added ports:
- Shanxi Taiyuan Wusu International Airport Port
- Jiangsu Sunan Shuofang, Yangzhou Taizhou International Airport Port
- Zhejiang Wenzhou Longwan, Yiwu International Airport Port
- Anhui Hefei Xinqiao, Huangshan Tunxi International Airport Port
- Fujian Fuzhou Changle, Quanzhou Jinjiang, Wuyi Mountain International Airport Port
- Jiangxi Nanchang International Airport Port
- Shandong Jinan Yaoqiang, Yantai Penglai, Weihai Dashuibo International Airport Port
- Hunan Zhangjiajie Lotus International Airport Port
- Guangxi Nanning Wuxu, Beihai Fucheng International Airport Port
- Hainan Haikou Meilan, Sanya Phoenix International Airport Port
- Sichuan Chengdu Tianfu International Airport Port
- Guizhou Guiyang Longdongbao International Airport Port
To date, the number of ports open to the outside world has increased from the original 39 to 60.
The fully relaxed and optimized 240-hour transit visa-free policy further expands the area for staying and activities. The policy applies to provinces (regions, municipalities) increased from the original 19, including Beijing, Tianjin, Hebei, Liaoning, Heilongjiang, Shanghai, Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Fujian, Shandong, Henan, Hubei, Hunan, Guangdong, Guangxi, Chongqing, Sichuan, Yunnan, Shaanxi, to include Shanxi, Anhui, Jiangxi, Hainan, Guizhou, totaling 24 provinces (regions, municipalities).
In the newly added 5 provinces:
- Transit visa-free personnel in Anhui, Hainan, Guizhou provinces can stay and activities in the whole province
- In Shanxi Province, the stay and activities area is Taiyuan, Datong City
- In Jiangxi Province, the stay and activities area is Nanchang, Jingdezhen City
In addition:
- The stay and activities area of Fujian, Hubei, Shaanxi provinces has been expanded to the whole province
- The stay and activities area of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region has been expanded to the administrative regions of Nanning, Liuzhou, Guilin, Wuzhou, Beihai, Fangchenggang, Qinzhou, Guigang, Yulin, Hezhou, Hechi, Laibin, and Laixi
Foreigners entering China through the transit visa-free policy can travel across provincial regions within the allowed stay and activity areas of the above 24 provinces (regions, municipalities).
One must be a citizen of one of the 54 countries applicable to the transit visa-free policy:
- European countries (40): Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Monaco, Russia, United Kingdom, Ireland, Cyprus, Bulgaria, Romania, Ukraine, Serbia, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Albania, Belarus, Norway;
- American countries (6): United States, Canada, Brazil, Mexico, Argentina, Chile;
- Oceanian countries (2): Australia, New Zealand;
- Asian countries (6): South Korea, Japan, Singapore, Brunei, United Arab Emirates, Qatar.
Two, one must hold a valid international travel document with a validity of not less than 3 months and meet the entry conditions for a third country (region).
Three, one must hold a confirmed flight ticket or relevant proof to a third country (region) within 240 hours, fill in the temporary entry foreigner's entry card, and accept the inspection and inquiry of the entry-exit border inspection authority.
Foreigners who meet the above conditions can apply to the border inspection authorities at 60 ports such as Beijing and Shanghai in China, and the border inspection authorities will handle the temporary entry procedures for them, with the visa-free stay time starting from the next day at midnight after entry. Those who meet the visa exemption agreements signed with China or China's unilateral visa-free policy can follow their regulations.
